Grow With Art provides art classes for children and teenagers, hosted by Belinda Smallwood in my private Mt Colah studio.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of NSW and a Graduate Certificate in Creative Arts for Children from the University of Technology, Sydney.
As an artist, I have a deep passion for working with children and teenagers. I offer a therapeutic space where students learn from each other in a respectful and relaxing environment, with the freedom to work at each child's own pace.
Grow With Art has been running as a successful children’s art studio for over a decade. The studio is an expressive space for children and teenagers to experience a wide range of skills, techniques and art mediums.
My lessons are structured and organised - children are empowered to be flexible within the class to share, learn and embrace new ideas add to add their own style and direction.
Grow With Art is designed to help children develop creative thought, inspire imagination, encourage self expression and create their own style with confidence. Art is an amazing tool in that it builds self esteem and improves each child's wellbeing.
My students will experience working with artist-quality materials including a mix of:
:: Clay
:: Canvas painting
:: Silkscreen
:: Mosaics
:: Lino
:: Prints
:: Drawing with pencils, inks, charcoal and pastels.
Grow With Art students are stimulated by visual language, exploring art movements throughout history and using influential artists as inspiration for their art works.
Location:
Classes are held at my private art studio in Mt Colah.
When:
Wednesday
3.45pm – 5.00pm
5.15pm – 6.30pm (Teenage class)
Thursday
3.45pm – 5.00pm
5.15pm – 6.30pm
Cost:
$220 per student per term, including all materials.
If your child is unwell and unable to attend their class, please let me know as soon as possible. Make up lessons are available within the same term and do not carry over from one term to another.
Please note that term fees may change subject to increases in the costs of art supplies.
Terms:
Each term runs for nine weeks, in line with the public school terms. Classes do not run in the first week of the school term.
There is a maximum of 10 students per class. I have found that the younger children teach the older children to relax, while the older children guide and help the smaller ones. Students work at group tables so they are usually sitting among peers of the same age.
New students are welcome to do a two week trial period which costs $25 per trial class. If you decide your child will continue, the cost of the trial period is deducted from the term fees.
Children must have started kindergarten.
I have a current First Aid Certificate, am fully insured and have a current and approved Working With Children Check.
I also hold a two day workshop during the Christmas Holidays and can host art parties or workshops tailored to a specific theme, artist or style. Contact Belinda on 0402 358 048 for more information.
